Hi! My name is Valerie, I've been a Registered Dietitian for 15 years. My initial degree was in History and Education (still a total history buff). As I got older and had kids, I became really interested in food/nutrition and how it all works in the body. I also wanted to know what was 'true' about nutrition and what was 'click bait.' Through the years I've worked primarily with kids and adults with eating disorders, disordered eating and chronic dieters. I've also spent a fair amount of time working with people with diabetes and other chronic health conditions. I also have experience working with families helping them manage their picky eaters at home. I hold a special place in my heart for young families who are trying to provide a judgement free food environment at home so that their children can grow up having a healthy relationship with food.
"The most important thing I can do as an RD is to listen to my clients. My approach is collaborative, I want my clients to be an active participant in their own treatment. I want clients to learn to build confidence with food. We live in a culture of food judgement, disinformation about food, disinformation about how to help manage medical conditions with food choices--My goal is always to provide accurate information so clients can learn to manage their food without all the outside 'noise.'"
