Eating disorders and diabetes treatment that comes to your home

We talked to doctors who didn’t even know what Diabulimia was. Fay was the only place we found that not only knew what it was, but also had providers that were knowledgeable. My Fay provider was an expert in safe diabetes care AND an expert in eating disorders. The treatment program was completely paid for by my blue cross plan, whereas other programs couldn’t guarantee it would be covered at all.

Most of the eating disorder treatment programs I came across didn’t want to help me address the issues I was dealing with between managing my blood sugar, battling my relationship with food, and my fertility concerns. It was so strange, other programs somewhat ignored my diabetes and wouldn’t allow it to come into the discussions. Fay was holistic and realistic. They addressed and engaged in conversations about insulin and managing my blood sugar when many did not. I also felt comfortable grieving my challenges with fertility in a safe space with providers that listened without jumping to conclusions.
