I am a Registered Dietitian with 25 years of experience as well as Certified Diabetes Educator. I am deeply invested in the areas of Diabetes, Cardiovascular Risk Reduction and Women’s Care including the Perimenopause/Menopause transitions and am learning more and more about that from personal experience.
I became a dietitian because I wanted to help people become the best version of themselves. I believe there is positive and negative nutrition, and I am all for the positive! What can be done, not what has to be removed. I don’t lecture; I listen. I will ask questions and find out what information you need to help yourself. I love to use Motivational Interviewing and setting SMART goals.
I enjoy Yoga, walking, and swimming (fun fact I learned to swim at age 41) and know I need to do more in the area of strength training (working on it). I love reading historical fiction and traveling. I am working on eating more fruit and vegetables. I know I am not perfect and don’t expect that from my clients either.
I believe in meeting people where they are on their journey. I don’t believe anything is good or bad or prohibited but view food choices as being on a spectrum. I like to get to know my patients and understand their viewpoint, hopes and dreams and help give them the tools to get there. I am very upbeat and like to help patients find their internal motivation and support their process. I believe that knowledge is power – the more you know the better you can feel.
