Hey there! I’m Natoya B., a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) with over two decades of experience. My career has led me into many great spaces. I have had the pleasure of teaching littles in pre-K classes, caring for mom and baby, teaching groups of children and adults on a variety of nutrition topics in community settings, and personalized one-on-one coaching. In the clinical setting, my expertise and years of experience have primarily focused on individual and family counseling for people living with diabetes and chronic kidney disease. Additionally, I spent a significant amount of time as an independent food and customer safety auditor for restaurant food chains across two states.
I hold a Master of Science in Food Science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and am deeply passionate about the safety and science of food, how food fuels, nourishes, and heals the body. So, believe me when I tell you, I am your go-to girly when it comes to new food exploration and practical skills like meal planning, recipe renovation, and kitchen makeovers. Choosing to become a dietitian was the result of much research and soul searching. I was very sure that this path was the one I should take. My desire to help my great-grandmother who had just suffered a stroke sparked the fire and my passion for science, food, and health has maintained the flame.
So, what nibbles does a foodie like me enjoy? I find delight in a wide variety of foods, condiments, sauces, and spices while culture-based cuisines get me excited the most. In my leisure time, I enjoy walks in the park on a breezy day, listening to great music, gardening, experimenting with new recipes and refreshing old ones, traveling, exploring new restaurants, and game/movie nights with family and friends.
As we work together, my goal is to be your valuable resource to help you harness your own unique power to become the change you want to see. Can we agree that there is no substitute for feeling well and understanding how to stay well? Let's talk about it.
