My name is Michel Harris and I have been a Registered Dietitian since 2000 and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist since 2010. I completed my undergraduate and graduate studies at Benedictine University before by internship at Hines VA Hospital. Some of my past work experiences have included long term care, foodservice management, private practice serving individuals with eating disorders, and inpatient positions in hospitals. My passion for teaching the future generation of nutrition professionals led me to start teaching in 2018. I am currently an Assistant Professor of Nutrition at Dominican University and recently received my Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition from The University of North Florida. I feel that it's very important as a teacher to continue practicing in my field, and I just enjoy helping others make changes that improve their health and wellness. Throughout the time I spend with clients, providing support and guidance to overcome challenges in an empathetic and understanding manner is practiced.
"I find it an honor when a client chooses to work with me because it takes courage and strength to ask for guidance when making changes to one's lifestyle. Your story is important to me, and that is what we start with. It is my intent for each client to walk out of a session with a plan that meets their individual needs, and allows for the little things in life that mean so much."
