Howdy! I’m originally from Tucson, Arizona, but moved to Ohio for my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I received my B.S. in Dietetics from The Ohio State University and my M.S. in Kinesiology and Health from Miami University. After graduating, I gained valuable experience in a weight loss center that performs bariatric surgery, which allowed me to sit and pass the exam to become a Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM). In addition, I am a certified personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and registered yoga teacher.
In my first four years as a dietitian, I’ve added university teaching and was awarded a grant to provide a local 8-week nutrition program for Black mothers. This was the main reason why I became a dietitian: to have an impact on the community. I also understand that many people may not have the best experiences in healthcare settings, and I want to improve that. All I ask is that you come ready to talk and be open to learning from each other.
Outside of work, I enjoy anything movement-related, whether going for a hike, bike ride, or playing sports. I like to shoot pool and am interested in joining tournaments in the future. I also love to learn and try new things. I’ve been learning American Sign Language (ASL) and trying to teach myself to play bass and acoustic guitar. I hope to hear from you soon, but maybe don’t ask how the playing is coming!
