Dr. Jimi Francis, PhD, RDN, IBCLC, is a nutritionist, lactation consultant, and educator dedicated to helping families thrive. With over 30 years of experience, she combines the science of nutrition with the art of compassionate care, supporting mothers and babies through every stage of feeding. Her guiding philosophy, “feed the feeder,” reflects her belief that when mothers are well-nourished and supported, they can confidently nourish their babies.
Throughout her career, Dr. Jimi has taken on various roles, including university professor, clinical director, researcher, mentor, and advocate. She has worked with military families, led maternal-infant health research, and trained future professionals in nutrition and lactation. Today, she continues to provide direct family care while also shaping systems and policies that make breastfeeding and maternal wellness more accessible for everyone.
What truly sets Dr. Jimi apart is her friendly manner. She meets each family where they are, listens attentively, and simplifies complex science into practical, doable strategies. Whether guiding a new mom through her first latch, teaching students in the classroom, or speaking at conferences, she brings warmth, clarity, and encouragement to her work.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Jimi enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, working in her garden, and teaching her grandchildren the importance of preparing healthy meals that nourish both the body and spirit. A lifelong learner and natural teacher, she is passionate about empowering mothers and building healthier communities—one family at a time.
