I became a dietitian after returning to school as an adult with four children. My husband developed diabetes and I wanted to learn how to help him. The first part of my career I worked in a Pediatric hospital for children with chronic disease, including diabetes. I then returned to school to get a Doctoral Degree in Adult and Higher Education. I also studied with RDs using Health at Every Size to address weight and eating disorders. While in school I worked in a renal dialysis center and a psychiatric/treatment facility. I developed many group nutrition programs. I directed a dietetic program mentoring students in a variety of clinical settings. I continue to teach nutrition online.
"My approach to Nutrition Care is that "EveryBody is Different". I became a dietitian because I love food and people in my family had developed nutrition related conditions. I use a mindfulness approach to eating rather than restrictive diets. I enjoy cooking and exploring clients' personal and cultural food preferences. I have worked with clients in a variety of settings and continue to teach and mentor new dietitians."
