I have been a registered dietitian since October 2008. I graduated college the same year my daughter graduated from high school. I chose dietetics after I had been successful losing a significant amount of weight with the assistance of a dietitian. I know what it takes to lose weight. I know the difficulties and 'slips' that can happen. I know making behavioral changes with diet and lifestyle can be a struggle. I have knowledge over a variety of health issues facing people, my strong points are with weight and diabetes, but I am able to assist in changes for heart disease including elevated cholesterol, hypertension, chronic heart failure, and more. I can assist in diet for chronic kidney disease, altered liver enzymes/liver disease, celiac disease, IBS, and so much more. I work at helping the patient find their motivation.
"I work with the patient where they are in the moment. I start slowly and help them to develop behaviors and habits that they can keep for a lifetime. I don't believe in using unachievable goals. Success can be seen even in the smallest of steps. I give each person grace. I have had challenges, too, so I can approach this from a place of empathy."
