Background

I was drawn to the field of Dietetics as a result of navigating my own diagnosis of IBS. The more I learned about nutrition and how certain foods and stressors impacted the management of my gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, the more empowered I felt that I was in control, and in tune, with how my body felt. My goal as a Registered Dietitian is to help my clients reestablish trust with their bodies, whether that trust was broken by a functional or inflammatory GI condition, or from years of engaging in disordered eating behaviors (e.g.“fad” dieting).

Dietetics is my second career, which has provided me with a wealth of prior experience in various fields. This allows me to more easily connect with my clients as I understand the demands of different lifestyles. My dream of becoming an RD came to fruition after pursuing my Master's degree in Nutritional Science from Cal State Los Angeles and completing a Dietetic Internship through Cal Poly Pomona with a clinical placement at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. Throughout that process I also worked as a NASM certified personal trainer, and became a UESCA certified running coach, which are certifications that I continue to uphold to this day.

Since becoming an RD, I have sought to further my education and specialize in GI conditions by becoming a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), Dietitians in Gluten and Gastrointestinal Disorders (DIGID), and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. My primary specialities are in Functional GI disorders and Inflammatory Bowel Disease, though I enjoy working with a variety of GI conditions.

When I am not in session, you can find me out on a run, at a coffeeshop enjoying a latte, or spending time in the great outdoors (the mountains are my happy place!). I am also a mother to a young daughter and understand the importance of demonstrating a positive and intuitive relationship with food, body, and movement. I am excited for the opportunity to work together to create change in a practical and sustainable way!

Approach

"I counsel using an Intuitive Eating approach to help heal, or challenge, the relationships my client's have with food. My goal as an RD is to expand the variety of foods consumed by my clients, especially those suffering from gastrointestinal conditions, to provide them the freedom to enjoy the foods they love the most. Sessions are individualized to meet each client's unique life demands, preferences, and expectations; with a focus on establishing improved, but realistic, health behaviors."
