Background

Hello,

My name is Althea and I’m a Registered Dietitian. I’ve lived in many places but, currently live in Pittsburgh, PA with my husband Jon and 3 kids- Noah, Maya and Ella. Fun-fact: I have always wanted to go to culinary school.

I completed my bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Alabama and my master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

I have over 20 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian. My work experience includes working with children and adults with compromised immune systems, chronic disease program development and management, working on local community wellness initiatives and supporting hundreds of families as they navigate the stress of feeding and meeting the nutritional needs of their children. My wide range of experience has helped to inform my approach to care.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE being a dietitian. I currently work with about 40 families in the Pennsylvania Early Intervention Program but, building a private practice gives me a way to connect with a larger community of individuals looking for tailored & compassionate support. I will help you wade through all the overwhelming and often conflicting information and share evidence-based relevant nutritional strategies personalized for you or your child.  Together we can define goals and steps to reach those goals. I love working with a variety of clients but wanted to share some of my nutrition specific passions:

Working with parents of complex medical children to support their feeding needs, including support and management of medical conditions that impact feeding, food sensitivities/ allergies, and tube-feeding management/ weaning. My goal as a pediatric dietitian is to support caregivers as they navigate the complex road to well-nourished and thriving children by working together to find real solutions.  Please keep me in mind if your child has food sensitivities or allergies, has any GI concerns, struggles with food transitions, eats fewer than 10 foods or is using a G-tube.

Working with individuals or families to create personalized meal plans that account for food sensitivities/ allergies, personal preference, and any other specifications dictated by conditions like diabetes, cancer etc..  Meal Planning/ Prep are skills. It takes time and practice to master these skills but, they are invaluable for creating lasting healthy habits. Do you struggle with meal plans and prep?

Working with individuals who are curious about maximizing their health and wellness, managing a chronic condition, navigating cancer treatment, or looking to optimize performance as an athlete. Are you curious about strategies like intermittent fasting, carb cycling, plant-based eating, foods to fight inflammation, symptom management and more?

I look forward to working with you!
