Hi! Thank you for wanting to read more about me. I am a Licensed and Registered Dietitian with a master’s degree in nutrition from the University of Maryland and have an extensive and varied background in this field that I love.
I am a published nutrition scientist and worked at the U.S.D.A.'s Human Nutrition Research Center in Beltsville, MD during the time when important nutritional knowledge was being developed, such as the role of dietary fiber and the importance of trace minerals. I have extensive experience as a clinical dietitian, being on the staff of the Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital and Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well as consulting with numerous senior centers and assisted living facilities.
I have presented hundreds of nutrition classes, workshops, lectures, and cooking demonstrations. I especially enjoy working in local grocery stores educating customers and individuals on making practical, everyday, healthy, and affordable food choices. While working for B. Greens, a private inner-city chain in Baltimore, I developed the Eat Right Live Well Program which won the National Retailors Award for Best Healthy New Program.
I am a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army and had the great privilege to work with students and athletes at the U.S. Naval Academy. I wrote hundreds of articles and blogs for the Human Performance Research Center for military service members and their families.
I believe that healthy eating can be delicious, nutritious, affordable, and easy to prepare and have taken multiple culinary courses and studied at the King Arthur Baking School in Vermont to promote this ideal. A great experience was being featured twice on Baltimore’s Fox 45 Morning News show promoting healthy eating and easy back-to-school breakfasts.
I am involved in several non-profit organizations, including Les Dames d’Escoffier and the Daughters of the American Revolution. When not in the kitchen I love being outdoors skiing, biking, swimming, or golfing or anything else involved with hanging out with my three adult kids and supportive husband.
I have worked with thousands of individuals of all ages. What sets me apart is that I listen well. I think like a detective and ask you to do the same as we explore your personal goals. Through our conversations I will provide you with concrete, practical, and expert recommendations to make positive changes one step at a time. We will look at the whole you and together create personalized choices you can commit to. Please read my profile to know more about me. I would love to work with you.
