Background

I am a native Texan and I live in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, but have lived all over Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas in 1993 and my love and interest in health and nutrition has grown through the years. My interest in nutrition began when I was inpatient for an eating disorder in high school...I was convinced that food was just to make you fat. (Our brains are so powerful). Through therapy and nutrition lessons, I learned that food is powerful, too, and that what we feed our bodies can either make us stronger and healthier, or can cause our bodies to break down and be more susceptible to disease. There are no quick fixes in nutrition or health, but each small step you make is a "win". I believe that there is no one size fits all nutrition plan and that everyone's body reacts slightly different to different eating plans. There are of course, more specific plans that are required for conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, Celiac, etc. Food is medicine and giving your body the right foods that bring about changes in health can be a beautiful and rewarding experience.
