Hi there! I'm so happy you're interested in meeting with me. Let me tell you a bit about myself.
For my educational background, I obtained a B.S. in Dietetics from Iowa State University, the state where I was born and raised. I then completed an M.S. in Nutrition and my supervised practice hours at Illinois State University. Individualized nutrition counseling and Medical Nutrition Therapy have been my focus ever since.
In my nutrition counseling practice, I specialize primarily in weight health and relationships with food. What does that look like? It looks like getting to know who you are as a whole person, understanding your long-term goals, identifying the barriers, and making realistic goals one at a time that help get you where you want to be. Just like anything long-lasting and sustainable, our time together is intended to be an ongoing process–so I'm here each step of the way!
My primary goal as an RD is not only to help improve your physical health, but also your emotional relationship with food. I work to challenge diet culture beliefs and help you enjoy ALL foods. Messages around nutrition have gotten far too confusing. I'm here to help sift through the weeds and discover what works for you! We're all just humans trying our best—food should make that easier, not harder.
Even as a Dietitian, I don't eat perfectly (not even close!). I'm just as human as everyone else. I love fresh leafy green salads, and also frosting-filled long john donuts with sprinkles on top—sooo good! I love yoga, weight lifting, snowboarding, soccer, and outdoor walks. But, I also equally love reading and taking long naps with my cats.
I would be thrilled to meet you and help you work toward a healthier, more fulfilling life.
I wholeheartedly believe "healthy" varies by person, making tailored recommendations and care a top priority. I aim to get to know you as an entire person, not just a patient. Sessions with me are laid-back and collaborative. I like to be goal-oriented, but ALWAYS realistic.
My primary focus is on fostering an eating pattern and relationship with food that suits YOUR unique health needs and goals.
I believe balance is key. Food is a multi-purpose tool -- not just for fuel but also for joy!
