Amanda is currently a registered dietitian nutritionist and certified lactation consultant. She also obtained a English/Spanish Medical Interpreter certificate through the University of Georgia and is open to helping Spanish speaking clients.
It wasn’t until after her diagnosis of Type II Diabetes in high school that the idea of nutrition could potentially compete as a possible career choice. Amanda enrolled in the dietetic program at the University of Georgia where she poured herself into her studies to become accepted into the Double Dawg pathway and complete both her BSFCS in Dietetics and MS in Community Nutrition within 5 years. Amanda received her RDN and LDN credentials and successfully completed her dietetic internship through the Georgia Department of Public Health (GA DPH) Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Dietetic Internship Program in the 2021-2022 cohort.
During her time as a public health dietitian, she was able to become a certified lactation consultant and fall in love with counseling on breastfeeding, pregnancy, and pediatrics. She also currently works as an outpatient dietitian in a hospital setting where she enjoys counseling patients on all types of diabetes and cardiac conditions, bariatric surgery, weight loss, and more.
"Eating is a way we take care of the body, and good nutrition cannot be found in a list of what should and should not be eaten. My goal is to help people build a healthier relationship with food and learn how to take care of their body, rather than punish it. Food can contribute to quality of life by fueling the body to live a life with joy. I am here to show people that eating can be a pleasurable activity, rather than a source of shame and guilt."
