Hello, my name is Tamara Herman. I am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian for 28 years, and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist for 25 years.
I completed my Bachelor's of Science in Dietetics from The University of Georgia in 1996, and completed my Masters Degree in Clinical Nutrition from the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). I was selected as the recipient of the "Clinical Dietetic Award" for Clinical Excellence out of my graduating class of 2022.
I can help you with nutrition management of many chronic diseases with emphasis on diabetes management and education. I have had Type 1 Diabetes for 51 years. I have dedicated my career to helping others with diabetes to understand the disease and manage it to prevent complications that come with uncontrolled diabetes. I specialize in diabetes education, however, I can also help you with other issues related to what and how we eat. I see a large % of patients for weight loss, gut issues, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and much more.

Approach
As an RD, I like to hear from the client what brings them to my services. I use questions to better understand the thought process of the client, followed by evidence-based responses to help confirm nutrition accuracy. I use visual aids with diabetes and weight loss clients. My goal is to make sure the client has complete understanding of how to apply the education materials and the plan designed for meeting their goals at the beginning and the end of the session.
