Dr. Katherine D. Owens comes to Nourish with 25 years as a Registered Dietitian with experience in clinical care, community health, food management, and international public health. As a native Texan, Dr. Owens earned her BS in Nutrition from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999 and completed her dietetic internship at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City in 2000. She earned a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University in 2006, completed a second Masters degree in Homeland Security on Agricultural Biosecurity and Food Defense from Pennsylvania State University in 2016, and completed her PhD in Health Sciences from Liberty University in 2025. Dr. Owens met her husband in uniform when deployed to Iraq. She resides in North Carolina with her husband, youngest son, and two high energy blue tick hounds. She enjoys fitness, travel, and is a brunch enthusiast. Her goal is to heal people by using food as medicine. Health starts with the gut.
