During an impressionable period while I was in college, my Grandmother was suffering from heart failure. I saw how changes in her diet, prompted weight loss and improved her heart health dramatically. Inspired to become a dietitian, I have since gained over 30 year's experience, as a master's prepared, registered dietitian and have now raised 3 children who have just started their own college path.
I have had the opportunity to gain expertise in cardiac and pulmonary nutrition therapy, as well as, weight management, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, pediatric nutrition and much more. I have loved working with a variety of age groups. I am currently an active member of two dietetic practice groups including Cardiovascular Health and Well-being and Diabetes. In the last 5 years, I have over 1000 hours of experience in direct diabetes nutrition education.
I offer clear explanations of diet recommendations with individualized meal plans as well as non-diet approaches based on client needs and preferences. Creating change, cultivating good relationships with food, and helping you personally implement healthy nutrition practices is key.
"Each phase of life offers different challenges on the road to a healthy lifestyle. I believe in helping individuals find step by step, practical approaches to establish healthy, lifestyle habits. I take time to explain reasons for diet recommendations, and we start where you are. A new diagnosis or chronic disease can be overwhelming. I would love to use my 30 years of outpatient nutrition experience and help you navigate what to eat, with guidance, to achieve your healthiest self!"
