Hi there! I'm Debbie Malakan, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist dedicated to helping individuals reclaim their health and happiness through food.  At the heart of my practice is a belief in the power of balance, compassion, and self-empowerment. When you work with me, you can expect a compassionate, non-judgmental space where we focus on your unique journey. We’ll work together to build a balanced relationship with food, helping you reconnect with your body’s natural hunger and fullness cues and develop sustainable, healthy habits. My goal is to empower you to make confident nutrition choices so you can nourish your body in a way that feels fulfilling, sustainable, and joyful—free from guilt and restriction.

I specialize in intuitive eating, disordered eating recovery, and weight-inclusive nutrition. My approach is rooted in the Health at Every Size (HAES) framework, meaning I believe health comes in many shapes and sizes. I also have experience helping clients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. If you're looking for a compassionate, individualized approach to food that prioritizes overall well-being over restrictive dieting, you’re in the right place.

I hold a Master's degree in Nutrition and have experience working with individuals across different stages of their nutrition journey. I’ve had the privilege of working in various settings, including hospitals, outpatient centers, and private practices, where I’ve supported clients with diverse needs and backgrounds. My focus is on evidence-based strategies combined with a personalized approach that meets each client where they are.

With so much contradictory nutrition information in the media, I was driven to study nutrition and become a Registered Dietitian to understand the evidence-based science behind it. I wanted to learn what’s truly supported by research and what the best recommendations are—not just for myself, but for the clients I would one day help. My goal is to provide clear, reliable guidance so my clients can make informed nutritional choices and feel their best, physically and mentally.

Outside of work, I love practicing yoga to stay grounded and energized. It's a great way to nurture both my body and mind. I also enjoy trying new recipes in the kitchen and exploring the outdoors. Yoga has helped me connect to my mind and body, and embrace mindfulness, both of which I bring to my practice as a dietitian. I'm passionate about helping people feel their healthiest, happiest, and most confident in their bodies.
