I've been employed as a Registered Dietitian since 1996 working with young adults and adults to improve their nutrition and healthy food choices and preventing chronic diseases. I am a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist since 2009. I am originally from Northwest Ohio and have been in Savannah, Georgia since 1991. I enjoy spending time with family and friend going camping and traveling. Hobbies include gardening, working of puzzles, doing cross stitch and chunky blanket knitting projects.
I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 1987. I have learned personally the need to make, and know the struggles of making changes in eating habits. I have learned about the differences in regional eating habits and food choices in my exterience as a dietitian
I have 20+ years of experience and enjoy working with people in making individualized and healthy lifestyle changes to help prevent chronic disease. I have worked with people having Type 1, Type 2 and Pre- Diabetes on oral medication and insulin therapies. I can assist with carbohydrate counting and with making individualized realistic and healthy goal setting. I have received device training and can provide assistance on insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring sensor use.
I understand how challenging it is to make changes in meal planning and food choices. I meet with clients initially learning their habits and goals. My goal is to help people make realistic individualized healthy meal planning and lifestyle changes. Discuss variety of meal planning strategies to improve their quality of life and prevent complications of chronic disease. T o quote a client "Everyone has a story" and I learn something new everyday.
