Background

I have been an RD for 20+ years and have covered a lot of ground in that time, from pediatrics to peri/post-natal and healthy aging. I remain truly passionate about helping whoever I can to feel empowered to make the changes that will support what's important to them. I believe in a "food first" approach to nutrition, while also recognizing the world we are all living in.

My career first began with a driving interest in pediatrics, which required a master's degree at the time. While completing my master's in nutrition at The University of Alabama, I also completed a pediatric residency at Children's of Alabama and conducted my thesis research on the ketogenic diet. During my time in pediatrics, I worked with families and patients with different pediatric conditions resulting from prematurity and also cystic fibrosis, asthma and other conditions requiring a home-ventilator. I participated in research and authored professional abstracts. After 5 fruitful years as a pediatric pulmonology dietitian, I went on to serve as a dietitian in civil service with the WIC program. I enjoyed working with families from many backgrounds to help them build healthy foundations. Infant nutrition and breastfeeding education remained at the core of my work. I also began as an adjunct instructor for The University of Alabama in 2013, teaching a senior-level medical nutrition therapy course and continue in this role  currently. Together with my work in academia, I transitioned my career to working with older adults in the rehabilitation and long term care setting for many years. After feeling that I had covered the life cycle through my clinical experience, I went on to work for a health tech company, addressing health outcomes at the population level from newborns to the aging population. I enjoy a highly fulfilling career in helping others to live their healthiest.

Outside of work, I enjoy yoga, the outdoors, traveling, our rescue dog and being a mom.
