Lani has accumulated over a decade of experience in the food, fitness, and wellness fields. In kitchens, her jobs have ranged from working her way up from host to Line Cook in restaurants and catering, to becoming a private chef.
She, was then, motivated to pursue a degree in nutrition to have a more competitive resumé as a private chef and ended up falling in love with her nutrition work in hospitals and eating disorder facilities.
With her experience as a personal fitness trainer and her love of movement, she found it fulfilling and fun to help her clients understand the relationship between nutrition and physical activity.
In her free time, Lani loves hiking, dancing (salsa, bachata, lindy hop, hip hop), doing acroyoga, learning new languages (French, Italian, basic Spanish, and currently focusing on Mandarin). Most of all, she loves cooking and exploring the world with her tastebuds as, when traveling, she is typically motivated to visit a destination for its cuisine--having hopped around Asia, Africa, North America, and Europe.
Excited by how food fuels our lifestyles, Lani finds a thrill in discussing recipes, topics of the microbiome and the gut-brain axis, functional nutrition, nutrition throughout the lifecycle, and achieving balance, variety, and moderation between the things we love and need.
"Different bodies have different lifestyles and, therefore, different needs. On top of the science, Lani considers each client's culture, life experiences, and preferences to personalize recommendations, and she practices a Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating approach in counseling. Lani empowers each client toward their goals by helping them make the challenges less intimidating, the habits sustainable, and the journey fun!"
