Hi! My name is Kelsey Kempen, and I have been a Registered Dietitian for over 5 years. I received my Bachelor's Degree from University of Wisconsin - Stout, and my Master's Degree and internship at Saint Louis University.
My interest in nutrition started at a young age when one of my family members was hospitalized. A dietitian came in to educate him on how nutrition could help him improve. That was fascinating to me - that food truly could be medicine!
I have worked as an inpatient dietitian for the past 5 years, so I have worked with clients with a variety of health concerns. My approach during my one-on-one sessions is to create a "judgement-free zone" using open-mindedness and humor. Humor is a big part of my life, and I love to incorporate it into my sessions.
What I hope my clients get out of sessions with me is an advocate and cheerleader for them. Nutrition shouldn't be something to be scared of - we do it everyday! I use an individualized approach to make my clients feel seen and heard.
In my free time, I'm usually going on walks, exploring new breweries, reading, and relaxing with my family.
"As a recent inpatient dietitian, I have been exposed to all types of patients, and am able to effectively communicate and educate a variety of learning styles. I work with clients through being open-minded and using humor in my sessions. I believe that humor helps build relationships and facilitates a safe-feeling environment. I strive to individualize every session, and stay up-to-date on the latest nutrition trends to better aid my clients."
