I decided to become a dietitian after watching so many people in my family and the community around me struggling with diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity. I wanted to be part of the solution in helping those that did not have access to services like mine. I now have over 25 years of experiences helping individuals from all walks of life improve their health through practical, realistic, evidence-based nutrition education.
I received a Bachelors of Science in Dietetics with a specialization in Health Promotion. I maintain my national registration through the Commission for Dietetic Registration as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. This requires getting 75 credit hours of training/education every 5 years to maintain my accreditation and stay up to date on evidence based nutrition and health information. I also have a certification in lactation counseling and training in postpartum and infant care doula services which I also maintain continuing credit hours specific to breastfeeding/infant care and recovery to maintain those certifications as well.
