Background

Crescent Henry is the founder of Battle Born Nutrition. She has lived in many different states as far west as Hawaii and as far east as Ohio before finally settling in Washington. After obtaining her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nutrition from the University of Nevada-Reno, Crescent was hand selected for one of two available positions within the United States Air Force (USAF) Dietetic Internship Consortium. This two year program provided Crescent with not only her required Dietetic Internship but also allowed her to receive her Masters of Science Degree in Nutrition from Baylor University. Her dietetic internship provided her with a vast range of dietetic experiences while working at Brooks Army Medical Center, San Antonio Texas, the Army’s largest medical center.

After Texas, Crescent began working as a Clinical Dietitian at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, the Air Force’s largest medical center within the United States. Crescent worked as Chief of Outpatient Nutrition where she worked with the local community and military members to provide one-on-one nutrition counseling, group classes for multiple populations/comorbidity to include diabetes, cardiovascular, weight management, prenatal, and performance nutrition. Through hard work and excellent leadership skills, Crescent was quickly promoted to Chief of Clinical Nutrition where she was responsible for managing 20+ staff and oversight for patient feeding within the 100+ bed hospital.

After separating from the military, Crescent relocated to Washington state to begin working, and continues to work, as a contractor for Army Special Operation Forces. Within this position she provides nutritional planning and counseling on the unique challenges faced by those in the tactical space. Frequent nutrition education is provided on optimizing performance in tactical situations such as along range movement with load, night shift work, combat diving, implementing wellness policies, setting up supportive food environments and encouraging not only optimal nutrition for performance and recovery, but also to support a healthier lifestyle.

When Crescent is not busy providing evidence based nutrition education within the tactical community, Crescent enjoys spending time outdoors exploring the PNW with her own family.
