My goal for each session is that the client feels empowered and motivated to make necessary changes and educated choices to improve their health for the better. I like to keep things lighthearted and "real" to help our conversations feel comfortable. I understand that individuals often worry about being judged by a Dietitian for any "wrong" food or lifestyle choices they make and I want my clients to be assured this is not the case. No one is perfect! I am here to offer support and guidance.
As a Registered Dietitian for almost 16 years, I have worked with many patient populations from infancy to older adulthood. I most enjoy walking alongside individuals who are trying to make dietary and lifestyle changes in order to manage chronic diseases/conditions. My passion is kidney disease, as I have worked with dialysis patients for 6 years. I am also very experienced helping patients manage diabetes, high blood pressure high cholesterol, and various other health issues.
I became a Dietitian following my own struggles with food and how to be healthy. Once I began classes in Dietetics, I was hooked, as I found the science behind food was so fascinating and the fact that what we eat can change the way we feel and improve many conditions! I finished my Bachelor's degree in Dietetics and went on to obtain my Master's degree in Community Nutrition, focusing on population health.
In my spare time, I like to read, run, hike, and watch college football and basketball. I also spend a lot of time at the soccer field watching my daughter play and my husband coach!
I love to laugh and have fun, so an engaging and enjoyable conversation is a must when working with clients. I am most experienced in Motivational Interviewing, which is a patient-centered, collaborative approach that is designed to strengthen a person's motivation and commitment to change. I want to focus on the client's goals and be a guide and cheerleader to help those become a reality.
