Background

I believe in demonstrating patience during sessions since, sometimes, taking things slowly and steadily can lead to better results. Additionally, I acknowledge that clients may require a "meet halfway" approach to nutrition counseling. This approach means that clients may need to take small steps before committing to a complete change, and that's perfectly fine. I always remind clients that their health journey and challenges are unique to them.

An ideal client is someone who is willing to make long-term lifestyle changes but needs guidance and encouragement to do so. To make the most of your nutrition sessions, it's important to use your time effectively. Create a list or keep a nutrition journal of possible nutrition topics, concerns, or even things you have overheard at the grocery store. This will help guide the session and ensure you get the most out of it. During each session, you will be provided with the necessary tools and skills to be successful. You will also be held accountable for your goal progress.

I specialize in weight management, specifically medically supervised weight loss programs that may or may not involve anti-obesity drugs. I have extensive experience in bariatric (weight loss) surgery and can effectively guide clients through their pre-operative and post-operative phases. Additionally, I have in-depth knowledge of nutritional management for obesity-related co-morbidities, such as diabetes (with or without insulin and carbohydrate counting/exchanges) and cardiovascular diseases like hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and congestive heart failure. Lastly, I am experienced in managing gastrointestinal conditions such as IBD (Crohn's and Colitis), gastroparesis, constipation, GERD, etc.

I decided to become an RD because I love learning the never-ending science behind the effect of food on our bodies. While exploring this passion, I also discovered that helping people brings me immense joy and realized that becoming an RD was my calling. While working in inpatient clinical nutrition, it became apparent that patients require a lot of nutrition education, but dietitians need more time to provide it effectively. This experience inspired me to make a difference in patient care through nutrition.

I love to spend my free time with my toddler daughter, who just learned to walk. I also enjoy taking care of my dog and various birds. I love cooking, Bikram yoga, and visiting farmers' markets and local parks. Something unexpected I did was stay abroad in Mexico for a month to conduct a research study I created. It was a very stressful but extremely exciting time, but I managed to collect my research data, visit a new country, complete my master's degree thesis, and graduate.
