Background

My journey to becoming a registered dietitian began in high school, inspired by my guidance counselor’s recommendation. I embarked on my educational path at Penn State, initially drawn to nutrition research. However, my commitment to vegetarianism led me to switch to community nutrition. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I joined the Peace Corps and spent a transformative year in the Dominican Republic. There, I worked with women’s groups to promote breastfeeding, gardening, and raising small animals to meet protein needs.

Upon returning to the U.S., I gained invaluable experience as a WIC nutritionist in rural New York State, deepening my understanding of the challenges faced by impoverished communities. I later furthered my education with a Master of Science degree from Boston University.

Throughout my career, I’ve dedicated myself to weight management, leading a hospital weight management program and becoming certified in both adult and pediatric weight management. My empathetic and compassionate approach has helped countless clients achieve healthier weight status and manage a variety of health concerns, including lipid management, diabetes, prediabetes, eating disorders, and bariatric nutrition. As a Registered Dietitian, I believe in building a partnership where we work together to reach your health goals. I provide individualized guidance for each person’s health journey, helping you identify your strengths and weaknesses to achieve sustainable, long-term health improvements.

An avid kayaker, I find peace and contentment in nature—especially on the open water in my 17-foot sea kayak. I maintain a mostly vegetarian diet, occasionally incorporating seafood, and I’m passionate about sharing my knowledge of vegetarian cooking and healthy eating. My diverse experiences and commitment to personalized care make me a dedicated partner for anyone seeking to improve their health and well-being. Whether through one-on-one counseling or community programs, I’m devoted to helping others live healthier, happier lives.
