Background

I attended the University of Arizona for my bachelors degree in nutritional sciences with the dietetics option and attended Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI) for my dietetic internship. I have been a registered dietitian for 8 years in which I have had different experiences. Through my experiences at the U of A, IUPUI, and work, I have been able to grow and develop as an RD, and expand my knowledge. First, here’s some personal life information about me :) I am a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and mom. I have amazing parents, 3 older sisters (yes, I am the youngest of 4 girls), 6 nieces and 1 nephew (and more to come), the best husband, and the cutest son with plans to expand my family more. My family is everything to me. You can find me outside being active in the fresh air or in the kitchen trying new recipes, both sweet and savory. Now let’s talk about my professional life. My first experience after school was at a skilled nursing facility in which I worked with clients of broad ranges and comorbidities. It helped me develop a wide scope of practice and introduced me to new experiences as a “fresh out of school” RD :) I then moved onto a position at a dialysis clinic which introduced me to a new and diverse group of clients that tested my knowledge as an RD. During my time in my dialysis job, I also did some health coaching on the side and worked at a gym providing 1:1 nutritional counseling. I loved working with these clients 1:1 because they were motivated and truly excited about making changes to their lifestyle. Lastly, I worked in outpatient surgical services where I worked with candidates for bariatric surgery, candidates for a partial or total gastrectomy due to gastric cancer, and patients with lymphedema desiring weight loss guidance. During this time, I also became a certified diabetes care and education specialist (CDCES), which provided me further education on diabetes and how to manage through lifestyle. Through my different experiences, I have realized that I truly love working with those that are excited about making changes to their lifestyle in order to improve on comorbidities and overall health. Whatever it is you need though (weight loss guidance, help with a specific diet you are wanting to follow, improvement on lifestyle, kidney disease, bariatric surgery lifestyle), I am here for you :) When you have an appointment with me, you can expect it to be a judgment free zone where there is no limitation as to what can be said. I want clients to feel comfortable with me and know that I am here to help them and motivate them. The primary reason I became an RD was to help people and improve on their lifestyle. I hope to be an ideal RD for the majority and help my clients reach their goals!
