Background

Expectations: Each session is about you. My job is to help you look at the varying aspects of your life (i.e. thoughts and behaviors) that may be impacting your nutrition. When you work with me, know that I am using psychologically proven tools to help you move forward in a positive direction in your nutrition journey.

Focus areas: Currently, my focus areas are general nutrition, integrative and functional nutrition, holistic nutrition, and sports nutrition. As I continue to grow, these areas will continue to expand.

Credentials: I hold 2 postgraduate degrees: an M.S. in Health Psychology and an M.A. in Applied Nutrition and Dietetics. I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a Licensed Dietitian. I have more than 10 years of experience in psychology, coaching, and teaching/tutoring.

Get to know me: In my master’s programs, I studied body dissatisfaction (health psychology) and food perception (nutrition). I worked hard to better understand how mentally and practically food and nutrition impact a person. In working with people, I have seen how one thinks can have a HUGE impact on how they behave when it comes to food – often, not in a good way. It has been these experiences, as well as my personal life, that make me passionate about helping others when it comes to food and nutrition.

Personal: I’m a HUGE Duke Blue Devil (if you’re a Tarheel, try not to hold it against me 😊) and Cleveland Guardians fan. When I’m not working, I can be found riding my bike on one of the area’s local trails, tending to my plants, watching one of my favorite shows (I love a good murder mystery), or curled up with a good book.

Drive: I’ve been where you are. I understand the difficulties in trying to navigate through all the information and just wanting to ‘be healthy’. I am passionate about helping people get out of the diet cycle and truly enjoy food without feeling like it is a burden or a curse. I want to help you to finally see food as a joy and fuel for your body to do some of the amazing things you love to do as well as learn what else your body can do for you!

Approach

"My background is in psychology so I use my training to focus on the behaviors that contribute to health and nutrition. I use an individual approach that is weight-neutral and focuses on intuitive eating. The goal: to help you to say goodbye to diet cycling and body shame. We will work together to find ways of health not found in a scale or measurements, but rather through nourishing your body, letting go of fear surrounding nutrition, and ultimately food freedom."
