I currently serve as a tactical dietitian in the U.S. Army with experiences in both clinical and performance nutrition settings. While I begin to navigate my transition out of service in the next few years, I am seeking opportunities to expand my private practice as a weight-inclusive, health at every size dietitian. I am married to a woman and support the LGBTQ+ community. I enjoy weightlifting, traveling internationally, hiking, baking, and wine tasting.
I received my B.S. in Dietetics from the University of Delaware, a M.S. in Exercise Science from Liberty University, and another M.S. in Nutrition from the U.S. Military – Baylor Graduate Program in Nutrition. I currently hold certifications as a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) and Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F), and I am completing hours to gain specialization as a certified eating disorder specialist (CEDS). I have 3 years of experience working with military personnel, spouses, dependents, and retirees. Prior to the Army, I worked as a Nutritionist at Women Infants and Children (WIC), completed a strength and conditioning internship at UNLV, and worked as a certified personal trainer (CPT).
My care is not restricted to athletes or military populations. I am excited and open to providing care to anyone and everyone who is seeking to improve their relationship to food, exercise, and their body. My passion areas are helping patients work through disordered eating behaviors and providing cost-effective nutrition strategies to make nutrition more attainable. I support public health services including nutrition assistance programs (i.e. SNAP and WIC) and strongly believe that everyone deserves access to affordable nutrition services to improve physical and mental health outcomes.
After working as a dietitian in tactical settings, I have become increasingly more aware of the pervasive nature of disordered eating and body dysmorphia in aesthetic-based sports and populations. These settings can cause or worsen symptoms of disordered eating by making us feel shame for not “looking the part”. I am here to help clients work through deeply engrained weight stigma, obsessive calorie tracking, binge eating, purging (via vomiting or excessive exercise), fad dieting, restriction, laxative and supplement abuse, etc. We will work together to help you find peace with food while considering lab values, medical diagnoses, physical activity, disabilities, and financial restraints.
I also work with individuals in larger bodies who have experienced weight bias in their health journey and are seeking gentle nutrition therapy to recover from societal pressures and gain confidence in their bodies.
"I am passionate about meeting you where you are on your wellness journey! Let's remove guilt from eating and repair your relationship to food together. The internet is full of oversimplified, incorrect, and disingenuous nutrition advice begging us to starve ourselves into thinness. I am here to help navigate food one meal at a time and build back trust with your body. Food is fuel not the enemy."
