WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Hello! I’m Kim and I love to help people improve their health in any way I can assist. I am a Registered Dietitian in the state of Tennessee. When you book a session with me, you can expect compassion paired with a little bit of challenge. I believe in meeting you where you are on your health journey and helping you find what motivates you.
As we work together, I hope to help you make small but impactful changes, bit by bit, until you reach your nutrition and health goals. Most people tend to stick with smaller, sustainable changes rather than trying to do a complete overhaul all at once. My goal is not to overwhelm you but to equip you with the necessary tools to make lifelong changes that improve your health and quality of life.
FOCUS AREAS
I have worked with clients from many backgrounds with a variety of conditions and health concerns. Most commonly, I support individuals managing:
Hashimoto’s thyroiditis
Pre-diabetes and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
Hypertension
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
High cholesterol
Celiac disease
Eating disorders
Weight loss and weight gain (including for medical or sports-related reasons)
If you’re navigating thyroid issues – especially Hashimoto’s thyroiditis – you are near and dear to my heart, and I would love the opportunity to support you.
CREDENTIALS
I graduated in 2009 with a Human Biology degree from Seattle Pacific University. After some time working and adventuring in Alaska, I joined the United States Marine Corps and served as an Air Intelligence Officer. After getting out of the military, I went back to school to become a dietitian. I received another Bachelor’s of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in Nutrition and Food Science with a Dietetics concentration. I completed my dietetic internship at National HealthCare Corporation (NHC) in 2021. From there, I went on to work for the student clinic at MTSU and the Rutherford County Health Department. When not working, I volunteer by counseling friends and family for free on health conditions and weight loss goals.
PERSONAL
The greatest complements ever paid to me were that I was “genuine” and “wholesome”. One was from a friend at college and the other from a friend in the military. I will never forget how much these kind words meant to me. If I can offer you anything as a potential future patient, it is that I will strive to be both things to you. I want to genuinely offer you help – while being kind and honest – as I believe you have a wonderful, God-given purpose in this life and there is a reason you are here.
To give you an idea of my personal life, here are some things you can find me doing in my free time: working on my mini homestead with my chickens, chopping wood with my husband, hiking, sitting on the porch drinking coffee, and making sourdough bread and elderberry syrup!
DRIVE
Becoming a dietitian for me has been a long time in the making. My family always enjoyed sports and the outdoors, as well as gathering with relatives to share meals. Food and nutrition were naturally a large part of my life. But at around 9 years old, I struggled with an eating disorder that threw my entire family into disarray. Thankfully, with the help of a very kind dietitian, I was able to recover and move on with my life – also allowing my family to recover as well. It can be an exhausting process dealing with an eating disorder and/or trying to help someone who is struggling with one. Although I ended up doing many other jobs and adventures before becoming a dietitian, I knew all along this is what I needed to get back to and that this was how I could best help others. One of the greatest things that helped me (besides the dietitian), was watching how my cousins would eat healthy foods – and lots of them – and they just loved to eat and really enjoyed what they were eating, without worrying about calories or becoming “fat”. And they were super healthy too! It amazed me. I started to realize how freeing it was to enjoy food again. My goal is to help others experience the joy of food as well and see it as a wonderful way to fuel their bodies and maintain their health, without overly worrying about calories.
