Background

During our initial session, we will explore your history with food and expand on what you know and what you want to learn about. We will look at the meals you create and the foods you love, and learn approaches to help you move toward your goals.

The specialty areas I focus on are working with people who have diabetes or pre-diabetes and weight management. Both of these topics are so full of information because no two people are the same. It allows me to get to know my clients and make more personal suggestions for nutrition changes.

I have been working in nutrition since 2010. I started out as a diet clerk in a hospital and slowly worked my way into clinical nutrition as I completed different parts of my education. My first clinical jobs were as a registered diet technician working at WIC and then in acute care. After completing my internship for registered dietitian, I found a passion working in a nursing home. I realized part of why I loved it so much was because I got to see the same people every day, get to know them, and share their excitement when they met their goals. That's when I knew I wanted to start my own practice and work more closely with my clients every day.

On a personal note, I chose my specialties based on my own history with food. I struggled to lose weight at one point and was starting to have issues like pre-diabetes. I found so much information online and it was all confusing! One site said one thing, and another site told me the opposite. I was frustrated and felt like no matter what I did, I just couldn't meet my goals. I spent so much time reading about nutrition that I realized how much it interested me. I knew I wanted to make it my career so I could help other people sort through the information as well. When I finally did meet a personal goal, it felt like a huge accomplishment and I love sharing that excitement with my clients.
