Background

Welcome! My name is Dr. Emily Riddle, and I have been a practicing registered dietitian since 2014. In addition, I earned my PhD from Cornell University in Molecular Nutrition in 2018 and have worked as a professor in higher education ever since. I teach senior and graduate level clinical nutrition courses, so I stay up to date on the most recent guidelines and evidence for a wide variety of clinical conditions. These include but are not limited to weight management, diabetes, gastrointestinal issues, cardiovascular disease, malnutrition, renal disease, and disordered eating.

I love combining my love of teaching and translating science into my work as a private practice dietitian. My work focuses on helping clients use the most sound scientific evidence to inform healthcare decisions while honoring the complexities of food and nutrition in their lives. I know firsthand that the meaning of food in someone’s life can be complicated; food can be social, emotional, convenient, a way to show love, a way to feel control, among many other things. I work with my clients to break down confusing nutrition information into bite sized pieces with practical, real-world applications that fit into their lives. I aim to help folks have the most liberalized dietary patterns possible while still improving quality of life and symptom management. Patient centered care is the cornerstone of my practice, so for me, it is all about honoring your life experience, dreams, and desires.

Outside of work, I enjoy time in nature and many outdoor pursuits, and I can often be found on the trails skiing, mountain biking, trail running, or hiking. I appreciate the importance of adequate nutrition in these spaces as well, as proper fueling directly impacts both performance and health.

Approach

"Many of my clients report that the vast amount of available nutrition information is confusing, especially as messages evolve and change. They are confused about what to do while facing a new diagnosis or addressing an issue that has impacted them for years. With 10+ years of experience in clinical practice, teaching, and research, my work focuses on helping clients understand and apply the most sound scientific evidence in practical ways that honor and fit into their broader lives."
