Professionally, I’ve had a 30-year career as a clinical dietitian and college instructor; after 20 years following a Western medicine philosophy of managing “Dis Ease” I discovered the impact of functional medicine–giving me a unique perspective on modern medicine. It was my 20-year career as a Clinical Nutrition Manager that led me to a certification in functional medicine from the Institute of Functional Medicine and changed the trajectory of my career towards a more holistic and integrative approach. In my 30-year career, I have accumulated extensive experience in inpatient dietetics, outpatient education, long term care, Assisted living and hospice in a more traditional setting. In addition, as a functional/ integrative practitioner, I have participated in integrative functional medicine teams, outpatient education, and developed and implemented a weight loss program in a homeopathic medical practice.
Emotionally, my journey started about 45 years ago; a challenging childhood lead to horrendous food habits, weight issues, and disordered eating. I know what it’s like to discover a better path that nourishes body, mind, and soul, so I hope to help others make similar lifestyle choices. After living in the Silicon Valley of California, I have moved to Washington in a small western town, and I now enjoy an active lifestyle that includes Nordic skiing, hiking, biking, and paddle boarding. I have found my community, and it has allowed me to thrive, in a way that I could have never imagined in my late 50’s.
