Over the last 25 years as a Registered Dietitian, I’ve really enjoyed teaching people about the power of food and nutrition. In my practice, I enjoy supporting clients with nutrition education about how food choices affect their bodies. If we are intentional about what we eat, then food can heal; if we are not, and we just “grab and go” food on the run, then food will not heal. With a family of food allergies, gut issues, thyroid and bone disease, we take seriously the intention to build a balanced plate to nourish our bodies, and manage our health challenges. A fun part of my day is getting into the kitchen to invent new plant-centered dinner meals for my family.
With bone disease on the rise, my focus today is bringing awareness to women in all seasons of life the importance of being intentional to use food and nutrition to build (and maintain) strong bones. To reach new goals or improve ongoing health challenges, we need time and willingness to make long-lasting lifestyle modifications. The most successful mindset to have is recognizing that dieting is out, and intention is in.
"As a dietitian for 25 years, I have seen the most important step to disease prevention and management is emphasizing the importance of being intentional to use food and nutrition to nourish the body. Reaching a new goal takes time - like walking in a marathon, not sprinting in a race."
