Over the last 25 years as a Registered Dietitian, I’ve really enjoyed teaching people about the healing power of food and nutrition, and how food choices affect their health. In my practice, I support a variety of clients with health concerns ranging from heart disease, thyroid disease, food allergies, specialized diets and IBS/gut issues. Today, with Osteoporosis on the rise, my focus is working with women in all seasons of life to build and maintain strong bones with good food, balanced nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.
With a family of multiple food allergies, gut issues, thyroid and bone disease, we take seriously the intention to build a balanced plate to nourish our bodies, and manage our health challenges. A fun part of my day is creating new gluten-free, allergy friendly, plant-centered meals for my family.
To reach new goals or improve ongoing health challenges, we need time and willingness to make long-lasting lifestyle modifications. The most successful mindset is recognizing that dieting is out, and intention is in.
As a dietitian for 25 years, I have seen the most important step to disease prevention and management is emphasizing the importance of being intentional to use food and nutrition to nourish the body. If we are intentional about what we eat, then food can heal; if we are not, and we just “grab and go” food on the run, then food will not heal. Reaching a new health goal takes time and intention - like walking in a marathon, not sprinting in a race.
