Dr. Cristen Harris, PhD, RDN is a board Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS), Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CDDS), and Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) with over 30 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist in private practice. Dr. Harris is also a college educator, researcher, mentor, parent, and life-long learner who is committed to facilitating people’s journeys towards a supportive and trusting relationship with food, eating, movement, and body.
Eating competence is a measurable construct characterized by being positive, comfortable, attuned, and flexible with eating, as well as being practical and reliable about getting enough to eat of food that is both enjoyable and nourishing. Dr. Harris’s body-inclusive, weight-neutral, relational, and collaborative work with clients focuses on cultivating eating competence among adults who are done with “diet culture” and the resultant dysfunctional eating behaviors such as compulsive or dissociative eating, over-exercising, or food restriction due to orthorexia, chronic dieting, and poor body image.
"I believe in taking an inclusive, collaborative, and experiential approach in empowering clients to engage in nourishing self-care that involves eating, feeding, moving, tuning in, and recovery through the development of eating competence. I do not offer a weight-focused approach. My mission is to facilitate the paradigm shift in how humans eat and move their bodies: with trust, respect, gratitude, and joy!"
