I am a registered dietitian (RD) credentialled through the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Commission on Dietetic Registration. I obtained a Master of Science in human nutrition from the University of Illinois Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in biology from Loyola University Chicago. Over the past 2 years, I have gained experience counseling clients of various backgrounds and ages regarding disease-specific nutrition therapy and fueling for athletic performance. My areas of focus are weight management, intuitive eating, diabetes, sports/performance nutrition, and general nutrition.
Knowledge is power and I am passionate about empowering people with evidence-based nutrition knowledge. There can be an overwhelming amount of information about food and health in our everday lives. I help my clients cut through the noise and find peace with food as it relates to their health needs and goals. Food is a great common thread that connects us to our community, family, and culture. It provides nourishment, but it also provides pleasure - both are ultimately important and not mutually exclusive. Hence, I believe it is important to approach dietary patterns from a holistic perspective. Deciding what and how to eat requires a careful consideration of an individual's health goals, medical history, resources, culture, and happiness. Let's make food make sense for you, together!
I view the clinician-client relationship as a partnership, an agreement to help individuals through their wellness journey. This requires openness, mutual respect, active listening, and cooperation, which I promise to provide and foster. Clients should expect to provide a comprehensive history regarding their health, diet, background and home life to help provide a baseline for personalized nutrition counseling during an initial session. We will discuss any concerns and questions you have and establish what success looks like for you. Setting tangible goals each session is how we turn goals into action. I will ask that you integrate what we discussed into simple, realistic daily or weekly behaviors to progress towards your goals. In subsequent sessions, we will build on information and goals set in previous meetings, and brainstorm solutions to any barriers to success.
Beyond nutrition, I love entertainment and art - live music, museums, film, and television. I grew up camping in the southwest and will never pass up the opportunity to hike, backpack and camp in a national or state park. Strength training is another activity I find incredibly fulfilling and a boost to my mental health.
