Background

Abby Herrick, MS

Integrative Nutrition • Ayurvedic Medicine • Somatic Healing

I bring over 25 years of experience in dietetics, functional medicine, physical performance, and medicinal bodywork, woven together with the ancient sciences of Ayurveda, yoga, breathwork, Polyvagal theory, and somatic therapy.

At the core of my work is this truth: healing begins with digestion—on every level. Not just food, but life itself.

I help clients re-ignite their inner healer by becoming better digesters of their physical, mental, emotional, and energetic experiences. Through cultivating agni—your digestive and transformative fire—we restore clarity, vitality, and resilience so you can live with more presence, discernment, and agency.

I don’t offer quick fixes or outsourced authority.\ This work requires honesty, effort, and practice. And it works.

We are best aligned if you are open-minded, willing to question what you’ve been told, and ready to take responsibility for your healing.

My Approach to Care

You are dynamic and multidimensional. Dis-ease is never one-dimensional, so neither is healing.

Rather than focusing solely on food or symptoms, we explore the patterns, relationships, and physiology beneath them. Healing begins with acknowledgement, followed by compassion and understanding—from there, real change becomes possible.

Our work is collaborative and transparent. I will ask you to communicate honestly about what is working and what is not, and I will meet you with the same level of truth—even when that means reflecting where you may be getting in your own way.

Growth can be uncomfortable. That doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

Important Fit Notes

 • I do not work from a macro- or micronutrient-counting model

 • I do not recommend calorie tracking

 • I am not currently accepting clients using weight-loss medications

 • do accept clients with eating disorders only if they are actively working with a therapist or will begin therapy within two weeks of starting with me

These boundaries exist to protect the integrity of the work—and you.

What to Expect in Your First Session

Our first session is about understanding you as a whole person, not collecting surface data.

We’ll explore:

 • Your health history and family patterns

 • Current lifestyle, stressors, and rhythms

 • Present concerns and goals

 • What working together looks like, including agreements and expectations

I will guide, educate, and support you. You will facilitate the change.

I hold clients accountable to their potential—but implementation and embodiment are driven by you. Healing is participatory.

Outside my dharma

You’ll usually find me singing, practicing yoga, swimming, gardening, hiking, traveling, sharing food, immersed in sound baths—or anywhere nature is doing her thing.

If you’re looking for truthful guidance, embodied medicine, and a practitioner who will walk beside you—not above you—I look forward to meeting you.

Approach

My approach to nutrient therapy is physiology-driven, not number-based. I do not use macro or calorie counting. Nutrients are addressed through digestion, assimilation, and nervous system regulation; when these are restored, balance follows. Supplementation is used intentionally, not as a substitute for embodiment or relationship with food. Nutrients aren’t the medicine—your ability to digest, assimilate, and regulate is.
