I first knew I wanted to be a dietitian when I was in high school. As an athlete, I spent my free time learning about ways to optimize my performance, and nutrition was a huge part of this. My first high school job was at an Italian deli, slinging sandwiches and stocking shelves, and my passion for food and nutrition grew through this experience even more. Prior to obtaining my dietitian license, I also worked in food service management. Today, I still just simply LOVE everything about food. New restaurant in town? I'm trying it! Want to make pasta from scratch? I've got a recipe for that! This means I have a unique culinary perspective on nutrition. I will never ask you to give up your favorite foods, nor will I ever judge what you eat.
I received my B.S. in Dietetics, Nutrition, and Food Sciences from the University of Vermont in 2017. My honors thesis examined the relationship between cooking skills and eating habits among college students. After completing my dietetic internship at California Polytechnic University, I began practicing as a dietitian in 2019. Since then I've worked as a dietitian at skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and at The University of Vermont Medical Center. I obtained my Lifestyle Medicine Diplomate certification in 2023, thanks to a scholarship from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont. My strong clinical background is an essential part of my diverse skills base as a counselor.
After sessions with me, clients will walk away feeling empowered to make lifestyle changes. We will debunk common diet and nutrition myths and set specific goals that work with your lifestyle. I will listen and speak to you with patience, kindness, and compassion. If you have a health condition that requires you to make dietary changes, whether that's diabetes, heart disease, IBS, or more, I am here to support you. I view health with a broad lens because there's so much more to nutrition than the physical act of eating. So many people face difficult stressors or may live on autopilot and I want to help change that. Mindfulness is a huge part of my practice, as well as listening to your body's hunger and fullness cues.
In my free time, I enjoy making pottery, reading, lifting, snowboarding, cooking, and spending time with my loved ones. One day, I hope to have a home pottery studio with my own wheel and kiln. I also love traveling, and my favorite part about traveling outside of the country? You guessed it - trying new foods :)
