Continue to cook healthy meals at home

Target 2300mg or less of sodium each day

Target ~1800kal/day (1600kcal minimum)

Have at least 90g, 110g optimal, of protein daily

Daily dietary fiber at least 25-30g, take a fiber supplement daily

Limit saturated fat to less than 17g daily

Eat at least 2 meals each day

Have at least 3 servings of fruits/veg each day

have at least 80oz of fluids daily


K feels that he is hungrier and eating more due to increased activity. He feels some guilt with eating more due to trying to restrict calories and lose weight for so long. K and RD reviewed the hunger and fullness scale. He is going through an adjustment period when weight loss is at a slower rate and he will have to increase exercise to increase his heart rate. This is new and frustrating. K continues to lose weight slowly. He is tracking his food intake and meeting nutrient goals except fiber due to low fruit and veg intake. K does not enjoy eating them and does not feel motivated by the benefits they provide toward his health.

Back pain was better last week likely due to not weight lifting. K says that he drank more alcohol than normal, and did not have a glass of water for each drink. Alcohol also helps with back pain.

Food when dog sitting: brought protein shakes and green apples, and soup, ate fried chicken Japanese curry from a restaurant for 2 days.

Exercise: walked 25 miles last week. He can’t walk fast enough to get his heart rate up and out of breath. Not interested in driving to hike and does not have hills in his neighborhood.

K has not met his goals that he set over the past 2 weeks. He does not have them visible throughout the week and does not feel motivated to achieve them. K’s back pain is likely preventing him from achieving some goals. RD asked K to reduce the number of goals and make them achievable.
