Diagnosis and Treatment Plan

Nutrition Diagnosis (PES statement)

Obese related to excessive energy intake as evidenced by over consuming high energy foods and BMI = 37.

Nutrition Intervention

  • Food type: educated on foods causing inflammation in the body that client is eating on a regular basis (fried foods, red meat, processed meats); these are the foods to decrease by half each week.
  • Adding in vegetables and fruit every day to add in fiber.
  • Educated on foods with anti-inflammatory properties to include more of daily.
  • Exercise: since not able to actually have a regular exercise schedule now discussed adding in extra steps by ~1000 or more/day; being active on days not working.
  • Not to focus on strictly losing weight now, but to improve food choices above to help lower glucose. Once client is on a regular work schedule (soon) then he may be able to better focus on food intake (logging) and regular exercise and sleep.
