Diagnosis and Treatment Plan

Pt reports not being able to make many diet changes these past weeks. First few days he tracked calories and was around 1900 calories but noticed he was very hungry at nighttime and would overeat, he will maybe increase his calorie goal. Pt also notes he’s just too busy to track things and usually doesn’t follow through with a full day. States he knows being busy isn’t an excuse but he travels for work very often (is gone more often than being home) and when he is home he works late and has to unpack his house so he doesn’t make time to cook meals. Admits he needs to stop using that as an excuse and wants to make changes. States he’s looking forward to being done moving so he can fully commit to his nutrition. Has Factor meals but was traveling so he hasn’t eaten any yet.

Discussed how to make easy-to-prepare meals so that when he has a long day he can come home and just heat something up rather than starting a recipe from scratch. Discussed benefits of microwave rice packets, pasta, frozen chicken/meat options, frozen veggies and how this can make an easy and healthy meal option. Previously RD sent pt a ton of recipes but he hasn’t had a chance to look at them yet. Pt is very interested in making food and freezing it so he can pull it from the freezer and quickly prepare things. RD to email egg breakfast sandwich frozen and shake recipes to pt. next session scheduled, pt would like to go through recipes and identify which he would like, and will create shopping list with help of RD so that he has a more concrete plan in place.
