Diagnosis and Treatment Plan

Changes / challenges since last visit

Patient graduated college last week and is now home for 2 weeks before moving into her new apartment. She plans to just work one job this summer (keeping the same job she worked during school and while she was doing her internship) and focus more on her health for a bit. She has gained roughly 10 pounds over the last 2 months due to eating out more and stress. She has seen puffiness in her face, hands and feet so this weight gain is likely water and inflammation.

Meal plan updates

Discussed ways to remove water weight and lower inflammation. Also discussed overall energy needs since patient isn't working out at this time and will have to find a new gym when she gets moved into her apartment.

1. Foods that are natural diuretics: cucumbers, watermelon, celery, lemon, parsley, garlic, asparagus, bell peppers, ginger, pineapples, grapes

2. Omega-3 rich foods to lower inflammation: salmon, walnuts, grass-fed beef/butter, chia seed, flax seed, olive oil, eggs, or a supplement (Carlson 1200mg or higher omega-3)

3. Increase water intake to 80 ounces daily

4. Continue to balance protein, fats, and carbs (120-135 grams of protein, 120-135 grams of carbs, and 71-80 grams of fat)
